What Al Ahly Need to Stay in the Title and Champions League Race

Al Ahly must win their remaining matches and wait for rivals to drop points to keep their league and continental hopes alive.

Al Ahly have entered the decisive stage of the Egyptian Premier League title race in a difficult position, with the team needing a perfect finish to keep their hopes alive either for the title or at least for a CAF Champions League qualifying place.

The Red Devils have three remaining key fixtures, starting with the Cairo derby against Zamalek, followed by Enppi, before ending their campaign against Al Masry. Winning all three would take Al Ahly to 53 points.

Mathematically, Al Ahly need Zamalek to drop points and avoid moving beyond 53 points, with Zamalek currently on 50 points and still set to face Smouha, Ceramica Cleopatra and Al Ahly.

In the title race, Al Ahly must also monitor Pyramids’ results. The Cairo side would need Pyramids to fail to win two of their remaining matches, as Pyramids would hold the head-to-head advantage if both teams finish level on 53 points.

That leaves Al Ahly with one clear task on the pitch: win every remaining match, while the final scenario depends on how Zamalek and Pyramids perform in the closing rounds.
