A source inside the Egyptian Football Association referees committee has denied reports claiming that Zamalek’s league clash with Pyramids will be handled by Egypt’s full referee crew selected for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speculation had linked the fixture to the international team led by referee Amin Omar after FIFA selected an Egyptian officiating group for the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
However, the source said the match appointment has not been finalised yet, stressing that referees committee chief Oscar Ruiz remains the official responsible for selecting the crew for the game.
The same source added that the World Cup group will not take charge of the fixture in full, although one or two members could still be involved, meaning the matter remains unresolved pending a final official appointment.
