Refereeing analyst Mohamed Kamal Risha has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Al Qadsiah’s clash with Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, backing the major decisions made by German referee Harm Osmers.
According to the circulated refereeing assessment, Joao Felix’s goal for Al Nassr was valid, with no decisive foul in the build-up and the challenge involving Angelo considered part of normal competitive play.
Regarding the 18th-minute incident, Risha supported the decision not to award Al Qadsiah a penalty, explaining that Inigo Martinez’s arm was in a natural position at the moment of contact and that any body expansion came after the touch.
He also agreed with the decision not to award Al Nassr a penalty in the 53rd minute, as Jihad Thakri’s arm movement was viewed as justified while trying to maintain balance after an aerial challenge.
The analysis followed a heated match that ended with Al Qadsiah winning by three goals, but the refereeing review concluded that cooperation between the on-field referee and VAR was sufficient to manage the key incidents without a decisive error.
