Official: Koller returns to coaching with FC Zurich

FC Zurich have appointed Marcel Koller as their new head coach for the 2026-27 season.

Marcel Koller has officially returned to coaching after FC Zurich announced his appointment as the club's new head coach starting from the 2026-27 season.

The Swiss side said Koller will begin his duties on June 1, 2026, while Carlos Bernegger will remain in interim charge until the end of the current campaign.

The appointment follows a successful spell in African football, where Koller previously guided Al Ahly to multiple titles, including CAF Champions League success, before taking on a new challenge back in Switzerland.

His return to the Swiss game adds extra weight to the story, given his long-standing experience in the country both as a player and as a coach, making Zurich's early move a notable one.

Attention will now shift to the technical project Koller is expected to build as Zurich prepare for next season.
