Leicester City have been relegated to English football’s third tier after a 2-2 home draw with Hull City, marking one of the harshest downturns in the club’s modern history.
The result ended Leicester’s survival hopes in the Championship and confirmed a second successive relegation following last season’s drop from the Premier League.
The decline is especially striking given that Leicester won the Premier League title in 2016 and lifted the FA Cup in 2021 before spiralling into a prolonged spell of poor results and instability.
A points deduction linked to financial rule breaches made the task even harder this season, but the relegation also reflected a much broader collapse in performances over the course of the campaign.
