Real Madrid recorded a 2-1 win over Alaves on Matchday 33 of La Liga to keep the pressure on Barcelona at the top of the table.
After the victory, Real Madrid moved to 73 points from 32 matches in second place, while Barcelona remain top on 79 points from 31 games. Villarreal are third with 61 points, Atletico Madrid are fourth on 57, and Real Betis sit fifth with 49.
That leaves a six-point gap between Barcelona and Real Madrid at this stage, with Barcelona still having played one game fewer, keeping the title race finely balanced heading into the next round.
Alaves remain involved in the battle near the lower end of the table, while the win gives Madrid an important boost ahead of their remaining domestic fixtures.
