Steven Gerrard has identified Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise as one of the best possible options to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool if the Egyptian leaves at the end of the season.
Gerrard admitted, however, that finding a true like-for-like successor to Salah is extremely difficult given the forward’s goals, assists and long-term influence at Anfield.
The former Liverpool captain also pointed out that the club have previously replaced major departures with different profiles rather than identical copies of the players who left.
The debate over Liverpool’s right-wing future comes at a time when the club are expected to make major decisions about the shape of the squad for next season.
