FIFA includes Pyramids-Al Ahly dispute in quarterly CAS report

FIFA's quarterly CAS report documented the Pyramids-Al Ahly dispute, noting that the case lasted 286 days.

FIFA has included the Pyramids-Al Ahly dispute in its quarterly report covering decisions issued by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

According to the timeline published in the report, the appeal proceedings began on May 21, 2025 and the award was issued on March 3, 2026, meaning the case lasted 286 days.

The dispute stemmed from the Cairo derby crisis after Al Ahly did not appear for the March 11, 2025 match, followed by controversy over the sanctions and the Egyptian appeal body's decision that it lacked jurisdiction over Pyramids' challenge.

In its final award, the CAS panel backed the position that the appeal body had no jurisdiction, explaining that the competition regulations did not grant it authority to review the merits of the decision.
