Fenerbahce have announced the dismissal of head coach Domenico Tedesco following a 3-0 defeat to arch-rivals Galatasaray in the Istanbul derby.
The decision came after a damaging result that severely weakened Fenerbahce’s hopes of winning the Turkish Super Lig, leaving them seven points behind Galatasaray with only three matches remaining.
Tedesco was appointed in September on a two-year contract after replacing Jose Mourinho. He led the club to the Turkish Super Cup in January, but failed to keep their league title challenge on track until the end of the season.
The club also parted ways with sporting director Devin Ozek and football coordinator Berke Celebi, while assistant coach Zeki Murat Gole is set to take charge for the rest of the campaign.
The move leaves Fenerbahce entering another transitional period as they prepare to decide who will lead the team’s project next season.
