The kick-off of England’s friendly against Costa Rica was delayed because of severe weather in Orlando, with heavy rain and lightning reported around the stadium.
The match forms part of both teams’ preparations for the 2026 World Cup, but safety protocols relating to lightning in the area forced a short delay before play could begin.
The decision was taken to protect players, supporters and match staff, with the game expected to proceed once conditions improved and safety officials cleared the restart process.
The fixture is being staged at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando as England complete their final preparations before the World Cup campaign.
