Zamalek defender Mahmoud Hamdy El Wensh said the squad was deeply disappointed after the defeat to USM Alger in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final, describing the match scenario as unexpected.
El Wensh said Zamalek do not like to dwell on refereeing, but he noted that the penalty awarded to the home side was questionable. He added that several controversial calls shaped the game and that the final result was surprising compared with the overall flow of play.
The defender stressed that the team will reorganize with the coaching staff ahead of the second leg and said he remains confident that Zamalek can respond in Cairo in front of their supporters.
