Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy has said that playing at the FIFA World Cup is a dream for every player, insisting that the Pharaohs have the ambition and ability to achieve something historic.
Speaking in an interview with FIFA, El Shenawy looked back on his first World Cup appearance in 2018, when he impressed against Uruguay and was named Player of the Match.
The Egypt captain described representing his country on the world stage as a source of great pride, adding that returning to the tournament gives the current generation extra motivation.
El Shenawy stressed that Egypt will not approach the competition as mere participants, but with the aim of competing and producing performances worthy of the country's history and supporters.
