Egyptian FA considers reducing foreign player slots

The Egyptian FA is considering a gradual reduction of foreign player slots in the league.

The Egyptian Football Association is studying a new proposal concerning the number of foreign players allowed in the Egyptian Premier League over the coming seasons, as part of a broader effort to regulate registrations and reduce contractual disputes.

According to media reports, the plan being discussed would gradually reduce the number of foreign under-age players, before reviewing the quota for senior foreign players in club squads. No final decision has been officially announced yet.

If approved, the proposal would aim to create more opportunities for Egyptian players and limit disputes linked to foreign contracts, particularly after several clubs faced registration bans or financial cases in recent years.

The matter remains under review, with further discussions expected between the EFA, the clubs association and relevant stakeholders before any official regulatory change is introduced.
