Mohamed Mourad, Egypt’s national team media coordinator, has confirmed that head coach Hossam Hassan has not rejected the idea of a friendly against Italy ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Mourad explained that the identity of Egypt’s second warm-up match has not been decided yet after the Brazil friendly on June 6 was set, adding that more than one option remains under discussion.
He also said the technical staff continue to monitor a large group of players inside and outside Egypt, while several parts of the preparation programme are still being finalised.
Mourad further stressed that communication with Mohamed Salah remains in place on an almost regular basis through Ibrahim Hassan and Walid Badr, underlining the Liverpool star’s importance within Egypt’s plans.
