Colombia Edge Ghana to Book Switzerland Showdown

Colombia beat Ghana 1-0 and will face Switzerland in the round of 16 on July 7.

Colombia continued their steady 2026 World Cup campaign by beating Ghana 1-0 in the round of 32 at Kansas City Stadium.

Jhon Arias scored the only goal in the 14th minute from a precise cross, before Colombia protected their lead with disciplined defending and strong control of the match rhythm.

Luis Diaz had a second-half goal ruled out for offside, while Ghana struggled to create clear chances against Colombia’s compact structure.

Colombia will face Switzerland on July 7 in Vancouver after the Swiss defeated Algeria 2-0 in their previous knockout match.

The South American side enter the next round unbeaten and increasingly look like dangerous outsiders in the tournament.
