The Confederation of African Football has announced that its member associations unanimously agreed to support Gianni Infantino’s re-election as FIFA president for the 2027-2031 term.
The African position followed a meeting held in Vancouver, Canada, on April 29, 2026, alongside FIFA Congress arrangements and with the participation of CAF member associations.
Africa represents a major voting bloc within world football, with 54 national associations, making CAF’s collective stance a significant development ahead of the next election cycle.
Infantino has yet to publicly lay out the full details of his campaign, but the unified African backing gives him a strong platform before the upcoming presidential race.
