Moroccan forward Achraf Bencherki delivered a decisive performance in the Cairo derby, helping Al Ahly secure a commanding 3-0 win over Zamalek in the fifth round of the Egyptian Premier League title phase.
Bencherki scored Al Ahly's first and third goals and assisted Hussein El Shahat for the second, making him the standout player of the match and earning him the man-of-the-match award.
With that brace, Bencherki matched a notable Moamen Zakaria record, becoming the first Al Ahly player since 2015 to score twice in the derby against a former club after having represented both Cairo giants.
The result lifted Al Ahly to 47 points in third place, while Zamalek remained on 50 points at the top of the title group, keeping the league race wide open heading into the final rounds.
Al Ahly will next face ENPPI on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, while Zamalek meet Smouha on the same day in a decisive round scheduled at the same time for the title contenders.
