Al Ahli retain AFC Champions League Elite title after dramatic win

Al Ahli retained the AFC Champions League Elite title with an extra-time win over Machida Zelvia.

Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli retained the AFC Champions League Elite title after beating Japan’s Machida Zelvia 1-0 after extra time in the final held in Jeddah.

After a goalless 90 minutes, Feras Al Brikan scored the decisive goal in the first half of extra time to secure another continental crown for his side.

Al Ahli had to play part of the match with 10 men following Zakaria Hawsawi’s red card, but they maintained their defensive discipline and held on for a memorable victory.

The triumph marks a historic achievement for the club, placing them among the rare teams to retain Asia’s top club title in consecutive editions.
