Jose Mourinho responded with sarcasm when asked about his future at Benfica, as reports continue to link him with a possible return to Real Madrid at the end of the season.
During a press conference, the Portuguese coach was asked whether he could guarantee he would remain at Benfica, and he replied jokingly: "Yes, I can guarantee it because nobody wants me," prompting laughter in the room.
The remark came as speculation continues over Real Madrid’s coaching situation, especially after their recent European disappointment and the return of several high-profile names to the discussion.
Despite the humorous tone, Mourinho’s formal position remains that he is under contract at Benfica and that his future will ultimately depend on what the club considers appropriate at the end of the season.
So while Mourinho’s name naturally resurfaces whenever the Madrid bench becomes a topic, there is still no official indication of fresh negotiations between the two sides.
