Al Ahly have ended speculation over Belal Ateya’s injury by confirming that the 2007-born player has not suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear.
The club said medical examinations showed bone bruising in the knee, a medial ligament sprain, a posterior cruciate ligament sprain and a tear in the medial meniscus.
Al Ahly added that the youngster will follow conservative treatment for six weeks before undergoing a new medical assessment.
The update came after early fears of a serious knee injury following the player’s appearance against Tala’ea El Gaish in the Republic Championship.
